The right keywords will make or brake you in Internet marketing. Finding niche keywords seems to boil down to conjuring in the eyes of most newbies. Most newbies never experience the advantages of niche marketing and many give up before the magic of the Internet happens to them. But! There is a better way to do keyword research. As you read every word of this article you will discover the best way of finding niche keywords and the advantages of niche marketing.

The advantages of niche marketing are plenty, you get a more targeted group of visitors. Targeted visitors mean buying visitors.

For example, a popular niche is dog training, this is a very big niche with people browsing for information but not necessarily buying. A better niche keyword might be “how to potty train your dog.” This addresses a specific and important issue for your potential customer. Your customer is looking for something specific that will solve his problem. So look for the focused keywords that deal with problems, this will bring your customers emotions into the mix and give you a greater opportunity to sell.

Specific, targeted, problem area keywords are much more likely to bring you customers. These keywords are always longer than general keywords like “dog training” and you may hear them referred to as “long tail keywords.” This is both because the words are long and because they attract a smaller segment of the market and if you graphed it all out your buyers would be in the long tail of the graph.

These long tail keywords will attract fewer visitors but they have several great properties.

1. The people they do attract are more likely to be buyers.
2. There is less competition for these words than more general words and so it is easier to climb up the search engine results.

The strategy for using these words is to find more of them. Write your web pages and articles by including say 5 of these that have 500 searches a month and if you get your page back linked properly so it ranks then you potentially can get a good portion of the searches. Use more keywords and attract more buying traffic.

Those are some of the advantages of niche marketing and finding the buying traffic but how do you find those niche keywords? As with all keyword research you can start with the Google External Keyword Tool. If you type phrases into it it will return with a big list of keywords and how many are searching for the terms. Then you pick the ones that look good to you, the ones with 3, 4 or more words in them put quotes around the words, and type them into the Google search box and notice the number of results. Also notice if there are some paid ads on the page – the more the merrier but a minimum of 8. The idea is if no one is paying to advertise your phrase then it’s not so good. Then with many hours, some experience, and some sorcery you will find some good keywords to use.

But I promised you a better way to do keyword and niche research. It involves a simple system of automation that you can run on your own computer.

The easiest article to begin with is what they teach in school as a 1-3-1 essay.  Paragraph one introduces the article, a summary of, lets-say, three points that you want to make.  If you are writing about article marketing then you might have points such as:

1. What is the best article directory
2. How do I structure my article
3. How do I research my article

Paragraph one then might say something like:

If you have heard of article marketing and would like to learn how to do it then you are in the right place.  In this article you will learn which article directory is best.  It’s an article directory that will get you the most clicks to your site.  Next you’ll learn the best structure to use as you start writing articles.  You’ll want to change things up as your skill increases but you’ll learn a good structure to start with.  Finally, we’ll show you an easy way to research your article.  It isn’t necessary to be and expert to write a solid article and yet your article will be useful and to the point.

So there is paragraph one.  It uses an if/then to intro the topic and then summarizes the three main ideas that we want to cover in the article.  Paragraph one is 114 words.  It is perhaps a little wordy but we can let it go as is.  We need four more paragraphs of 80 words each and we will have an article between 400 and 500 words.  This is a good length for EzineArticles.

Another point before continuing, your article should be info based and not be a sales pitch.  You want to provide value to the user and not talk about products.

How do I do research for article marketing?  If you are writing on a particular topic for a particular niche your best choice is to do research at Ezinearticles.  Visit Ezine and search for articles on the topic you want to write about.    Scan the search results and pick 3 or 4 that appeal to your eye.  Scan each article and note down an important main point from each: note some support points as well.  Be sure to notice what appealed to you about the titles.

Write a paragraph on each of these main points and be sure to support the main point with the support points.  Don’t copy the points that you gathered but say them in your own words.  When you are finished, each paragraph will easily be 80 to 100 words.

Finally a paragraph at the end that sums up what you have talked about.  This should take you another 80 to 100 words and your article is done.

You need an effective title.  Look at the titles you liked, and again don’t steal one but rather be inspired by them and create your own title.

Do not put links any place in your article.  The place to add links is in the resource box.

The last thing to be done is the resource box and your article should flow into it.  The resource box is technically not part of your article and yet pretend it is and let the article continue into it.   The resource box is where you can add links to your site.  You need to have something there that builds curiosity or offers something free when they come to your website.

If you want a good start on the resource box, look for articles that have a high number of views in your topic area.  Read different resource boxes until you find one you like and model it.  Note: you should not consider the resource box as a bio box.  This is the place where you want the reader to take action and come to your site.  Use the resource box to encourage them to do so.

The resource box is arguably the most important part of your article and deserves a thorough treatment.  We will take that up in another post.
